A U.S. 1836 model martial pistol by Asa Waters, the lock stamped "A. WATERS / MILBURY, MS / 1837." Smoothbore .54 caliber with 8-1/2" round barrel, stamped "U.S. / P." Hardwood stock with original patina and cartouche stamped to the left side. This was the standard issue pistol of the Mexican War and specimens converted to percussion such as this one continued to be used through the Civil War. Overall good working order and condition; old hairline crack to the wood on the left forend, also an old repair/restoration to the wood on the right side above the rear half of the lock. The cock screw replaced. 14" overall.
