Item #: BQ3453 -- An Excellent Late 19th - Early 20th Century Japanese Mumei Katana in WW2 Gunto Mounts -- $1250.00

An excellent mumei katana. The nakago is ubu without signature or date. A well made wide blade with fine proportions, shallow curve and extended large o-kissaki. The shape has the look of a strong Shinshinto blade, and the brass habaki fits the blade perfectly. The blade displays a Seki style medium gunome hamon clearly on one side. The original shingunto koshirae has an excellent tsuka with the original ito wrap. One side of the blade has minor surface abrasions, oxidization and age staining that obscures the hamon. The mounts show minor use and period wear. The original wooden saya has been professionally restored in fine ishimi black lacquer. When acquired the saya had small remnants of its former leather weather cover. This blade will be very impressive when polished. 66.6 cm. blade nagasa.
