An uncommon George V period ivory handled 1831 general officer's pattern boy's sword, maker marked at the ricasso, "J.R. Gaunt & Son Limited London & Birmingham," successor to Edward Thurkle, active as cutlers in London and Birmingham 1900-1942. The blade double etched with GRV cypher, crossed saber and cannon, crown etc. This sword is in fine condition with the blade displaying very minor rust pitting and age gray patina. 55.2 cm. L. A rare find.
