A very fine high quality example, maker marked at the blade ricasso, "Schuler, Hartley, Graham," A New York company famous for providing private purchase presentation swords during the U.S. Civil War. The owners name, W.C. Smith Jr., etched on front side of the double-etched blade. The lodge name, King Philip No. 33, is on the reverse. The blade is in fine untouched period condition. There is a grey age patina to the scabbard surface and small areas of minor surface rust around the fittings.The handle fittings excellent except for a slight seam opening on the knights head pommel; the leather grip has minor surface wear.The reverse guard is stamped, "JAN. 7 1875." 94 cm. overall.
