A fine modern dagger, signed on the nakago, "Fukukawa Kiyoyuki Saku.". He is one of the leading living smiths working in Japan today and studied with Yukihira- Akihira, who was a Living National Treasure. Kiyoyuki is from Nagano province and works in the Soshu tradition. This tanto is in the style of Masamune with fine horimono on both sides of the blade. The hamon is an active wide suguha. This is a stand alone blade without habaki or mounts. The original polish is outstanding with one very minor surface scratch. 26.8cm. overall, 17.6cm. nagasa.
