Item #: BQ2692 -- A Good Late 17th C. Spanish Cup Hilt Rapier -- $3750.00

A good Spanish iron mounted cup hilt rapier, ca. 1660-1680. The sword hilt and grip wire are all original. The exterior surfaces of the cup display a worn etched surface and roped edge. The original blade appears to have been thinned during it's working life. A near identically hilted sword is pictured in European Swords and Daggers In The Tower Of London Collection," plate C, page 34. The interior ricasso has remnants of what appears to be a crown and/or shield stamp. Excellent period condition with overall rust patina and old moderate to heavy blade pitting. 113 cm. overall.
