Wright designed and supervised the building of the Imperial Hotel while he spent several years in Japan around this period. The exact history of this yari gift is not known but it is a wonderful work for both the Japanese and F. L. Wright collector. The pole carries both the Imperial Kiri and double ring mon. The yari point is a carved wood sunagi and along with the koshirae is in excellent original condition with slight areas of lacquer loss. The gilded mounts and cord are of outstanding quality. The original sword bag is included with this item. 73.2cm. overall.
