Item #: BQ2544 -- An Edo Period Ko-Wakizashi with Koshirae -- $1375.00

A fine Edo period ko-wakizashi with mounts. The blade is shinogi-zukuri and is out of polish but displays an active wide midare hamon with choji and gunome. The nakago is o-suriagi with one hole. A cleaned copper habaki complements the blade. The tsuka has excellent same, professionally wrapped white ito, a matched pair of quality nanako punch textured shakudo fuchi/kashira, and a pair of shakudo menuki of samurai attendants and furled banners with gold nunome details. The excellent original iron tsuba has an unusual star punched and amida yasuri design along with small areas of gold linear accents. The saya has recently been professionally relacquered in an ishimi textured reddish-brown lacquer. The kodzuka is missing. This sword is in very good condition though the healthy blade needs a polish. It has a couple of very small edge nicks, minor surface scratches and oxidization but it will polish very well. 35.5 cm. nagasa.
