Item #: BQ2357 -- M. 1840 U.S. Light Artillery Enlisted Man's Saber -- $470.00

This pattern sword saw action in both the Mexican and Civil Wars. The blade is stamped at the ricasso, "U.S. 18??", probably an Ames. The pommel has its original peen and the grip has lost its leather cover and wire. In overall good condition, the blade has brown rust surface with moderate pitting near tip; the grip displays an epoxied repair and is missing a small area on the underside. This would restore very well. Lacking scabbard. 95 cm. overall.
