A fine katana by the famous Gifu maker Jumyo. This maker was a winning recipient of a 2nd Seat award, Qusai National Swordsmith, at the 6th Exhibition of newly-made Japanese swords, in 1941. See Slough's book, "Modern Japanese Swordsmiths, 1868-1945", p. 117 for reference. Blade overall 34 1/2", nagasa 25". Signed with two character signature. Blade is excellent with light scratches and oxidization, tip is slightly blunted. The hamon is a wide active undulating suguha. The boshi takes up almost the entire kissaki. Original gold-plated habaki and recent shirasaya in near mint condition. This fine blade will be very beautiful when polished.
