A good large silver mounted khanjar from Jizan, ca. latter 19th - early 20th century. The T-shaped hilt with multifaceted bosses, two to the the front (one loose) and 5 atop. The ears terminating in similar finials (one a mismatched replacement). The handle decorated overall in sheet silver with extensive filigree and embossed with various geometric designs at the back. The blade of typical form with raised central ridge, showing forging flaws.The sheath associated but decorated in a similar though distinct fashion, with three hanging rings (one lacking), leather backing, and bulbous tip (exhibiting slight looseness) terminating in a coral cabuchon. Overall good condition; defects as noted above and with slight damage to the hilt and areas of wear to the leather. Overall in sheath 47.8 cm., blade 17.5 cm. across the arc, dagger without the sheath 32.3 cm.
