A socketed Indian lance head, possible made for parade at the Delhi Durbar, with attractively chiseled bolsters and chiseled, applied central leaf-shaped panel, both in floral motif. The socket rolled and brazed with copper, with a hole for securing to the wooden haft. The blade probably of wootz steel; may show a pattern if properly cleaned and etched. Good condition; acidically cleaned. The blade with scattered pits, the socket with areas of rust scale. 35 cm. overall, with 21.5 cm. blade.
