An interesting 19th century Gurkha kukri in its original leather sheath. Hardwood grip with bone inlays. Carved ring and central band beneath. Iron bolster and pommel cap, the latter with teardrop shaped washers escutcheons beneath the peens. The hand-forged, single-fullered blade with incised decoration incorporating the fullers. Overall fair to good condition; the grip with age-cracks to both sides, chipped at the top of the pommel and top and bottom of the ring and missing an inlay. The blade darkly patinated, with a tiny chip at the tip. The sheath showing considerable age-wear; the frontal leather intact but dry and cracked, the stitching at the rear tight and intact but torn at the top with the tinder pouch separated at one side and nearly detached. Blade 30.2 cm., overall in sheath 44.3 cm.
