A Ghurka kukri, probably 19th century, in its original black embossed leather-covered wooden scabbard with steel toe. The unfullered blade decorated for its entire length along the spine with a pattern of lines, punched dots and semicircles with traces of red pigment therein. Wooden one-piece grip with sheet steel pommel cap and iron bolsters. The grip decorated with metal studs. GC; the blade with areas of dark spotting, pitting and heavy black scale. Should clean reasonably well with steel wool and oil. Scabbard open at the bottom edge, the leather worn and badly flaked, mostly on the reverse, with a fair bit of leather loss. Sheath and blade with adhesive labels from a former collection. Blade 30 cm., overall in sheath 43.5 cm.
