Item #: 1002-295 -- An Indian All-Steel Tulwar -- $450.00

An Indian all-steel tulwar with well-forged kilij-style blade with subtle yelman and without ricasso, with sickle marks and other stamps to the obverse. The hilt with long langets with nicely filed contours and quillons of a form associated with some Battak swords. The knucklebow with downturned mushroom form finial. Urn-shaped grip and saucer pommel, the latter with olive finial atop a domed florette. Overall GC; dark finish but not pitted. Very slight wiggle to the hilt assy. A better example than most of the run-of-the-mill steel-hilted tulwars. This blade will likely yield a pattern welded pattern if properly etched or may turn out to be wootz steel. Overall 85.5 cm., blade 72.5 cm.
