Item #: 1002-278F -- A Philippine Sword -- $175.00
An interesting Philippine sword with kukri-like handle indicating possible Indian influence. The hilt comprised of geometrically carved aged bone handle capped with a horn shim and pommel plate, also with copper ferrule and flat sheet lobed guard. The hand-forged blade slightly recurved, quite sharp, with moderate bevel and ground false edge. In its original two-piece hardwood scabbard with copper bands, chape and locket with decoratively serrated edges, the latter with additional incised decoration. Overall GC; some wood loss to the back of the scabbard, pommel plate slightly loose, hilt firm to the blade, the blade mottled with areas of dark spotting and light/moderate pitting. Overall in scabbard 68 cm., blade 49.8 cm.
