A well-made Spanish Colonial dagger circa 1800, probably naval, the evenly tapered blade of basically flattened diamond section, hollow ground on one surface of each side, broad at the forte. The handle with full tang, horn spacers and iron plates retained with rivets. The scabbard similarly constructed, both components having forge welded iron rings for suspension. Handle and scabbard with blackened panels extensively inlaid with silver and yellow metal patterns including chevrons, stars, etc. GC with minor losses to the inlay, the blade with delaminations and a straightened bend near the tip. Overall in sheath 50.3 cm. including loose rings, blade 35 cm.
