A good 19th century Gurkha kukri in its original black asshide covered wooden sheath with iron chape. One-piece wooden handle with single ring and carved central band, with uncapped pommel and iron bolsters. The slender blade of good form with two narrow fullers and well-cut cho, the spine peaked. Overall GC; the sheath with accommodation for tinder pouch (present) and two bi-knives (lacking). The blade mostly dull grey, mottled and with areas of light to moderate pitting. The grip with a large chip to the reverse of the pommel and scattered minor chipping to the ring (all chips old and patinated). A good representative example. Blade abt. 29 cm., overall in sheath 43.2 cm.
