Item #: 1002-17 -- A Good Moro Barong in its Original Carved Hardwood Sheath -- $295.00

A good Moro barong, the long, hand-forged blade of unusually slender leaf form, in its traditional hardwood scabbard with carved. The hardwood hilt with minimally carved crest, the pommel with slight central ridge, with long silver ferrule, the latter wrapped in green thread for no apparent purpose. Overall VG; no chips or cracks to the hilt or sheath. The blade poorly cleaned bright; this could be easily cleaned up and the blade should yield a pattern-welded pattern if properly etched. The sheath with a small portion of the original cane binding remaining at the toe, partially bound in heavy thread, now unraveling. It is uncommon to find a barong with the scabbard unbroken. The blade 40.5 cm., overall in sheath 57 cm.
