Item #: 10-3714 -- An Original Edo Period Japanese Katana-sized Tsuka with Matched Fittings. -- $625.00
An Edo period Japanese katana tsuka with mismatched set of dark shakudo fuchi- kashira that have been associated since this handle was wrapped in the late Edo period. They display well together and require a second look to see that they are not a true match as both display high-relief designs. The fuchi has a frolicking horse and the kashira has an open design of twin masks. The large matched pair of shakudo menuki are in the form of gold-detailed cranes with waves and moon. Very good condition with sound brown ito wrap, lightly soiled with slight losses to the underlying same. A very nice untouched example that will be great for mounting. 23.3 cm. L.
