Item #: 10-3711 -- A Fine European Percussion Pistol, Ca. 1840 -- $840.00

A fine European single shot percussion pistol, ca. 1840, with named lock plate that in part appears to read, "Gernsbach" (Germany?). It has an approx. .40 cal. muli-grooved rifled octagonal barrel with set trigger and swivel steel butt cap that opens to a patch box. The walnut stock is beautifully carved and checkered with the ramrod opening in the form of a lions head. There is one small crack in the wood on the left side near the reverse lockplate. The ramrod appears to be original to the pistol. A very handsome example. 34cm. overall.
