A good gunto katana by listed WW2 Seki swordsmith Nobumitsu. The nakago is ubu with a small "NA" (Nagoya arsena) control acceptance stamp and with one ana, two character signed, "Nobumitsu" and dated Showa 18, (10 month = October) 1943. A well made blade with fine proportions, moderate curve and silver plated brass habaki. A former collector has cleaned the blade and the hamon is not visible but it is probably gunome. The untouched original shingunto koshirae are complete other than missing the bottom of the tsuka latch and the saya throat piece. It has the original four seppa. The blade has minor surface abrasions, oxidization and age staining and the mounts display period wear. Most of the saya paint was removed a long time ago and it has one tiny surface dent. 66.6cm. blade nagasa.
