An early Edo period, ca. 1650, unrefined copper irregular disc form, likely either a Japanese or Chinese pole arm tsuba. We have not encountered a similar example. Carved in high relief on one face with twin octopus and sea weed; the other face is flat with old contact abrasions. The subject treatment is in Canton style. 6.2cm. H.
