An Edo period Japanese iron Mito School katana tsuba with fine surface carving and mixed soft metal inlays. The theme is a crane in nature. The crane is depicted in outstanding inlaid black shakudo. The plate is mokko shaped and quite large. Fine original conditon that was slightly dry. We have corrected this with the application of a light coat of tsuba oil. 8.6cm. H.
