# BQ1791 - A Rare Japanese M1895 Naval Prison Guard/Shore Patrol Katana - $ 1440.00

A WWII bringback recently obtained from the family of the vet. 100% original and untampered with until we removed the handle. The blade is ubu, one hole, mumei and shows some scattered pitting. This is a very hard pattern to find and would make a fine addition to any collection of Japanese military swords. The mounts are in uncleaned "as found" condition; both the handle backstrap and toe of scabbard include the correct fouled anchor design. In addition the handle is stamped with the number 20, probably a rack number. More information on this pattern can be found in the Fuller & Gregory book, "Japanese Military and Civil Swords and Dirks", ppg. 133-34. 87 cm. overall in saya, 62.7 cm. blade nagasa.
