The sword’s nakago is ubu with two original ana, signed, “Nagamitsu Saku.” The back egde of the nakago has a saka stamp and is numbered “3540.” This is an excellent work; the smith worked in Okayama and is written up in John Slough's book, “Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945,” pp. 35 & 123-125. The cutting ability of this smith’s work was among the best of any smith of the period. The hamon has lots of activity in a ko-gunome with ashi and chogi midare . The hada is ko-itame. The original polish is excellent with some slight rubbing at the kissaki. Mounts are in fine condition, the ito possibly recent. 98.5 cm. overall, with 65.1 cm. nagasa.
