# BQ1919 - Rare Early Showa Period Civilian Samurai-style Katana, ca. 1920’s-30’s - $ 1950.00

A Japanese katana in original civilian samurai-style mounts. The sword is ubu and signed, “Kawamura Masanobu Saku” with Showa stamp. He was a Gifu/Mino smith and is listed with an oshigata in the John Slough book “Modern Japanese Sword Makers 1868-1945” on page 103. The saya has been professionaly restored and finished in black lacquer. The tsuka with fittings and tsuba are all original to the sword. Blade is in very good condition with no bends or chips. The hamon is a medium gunome. It does have light scratches from cutting and a few surface rust spots that would polish out without any problems. 95.5 cm. overall in mounts, 65.2 cm. blade nagasa.
