# MB4 - A Fine Moro Barong in its Original Sheath - $ 450.00

A good Moro barong in its original wooden sheath. The hardwood handle with silver ferrules, bound in braided cord and elegantly carved at the edges of the pommel. The blade pattern welded, of typical leaf form, showing a faint but distinct undulating pattern. The sheath of two pieces of hardwood, the obverse dark and the reverse light. The obverse beautifully carved at the throat and upturned tip. The body would have originally been wrapped in rattan, now missing and bound with thread. A proper restoration with rattan would be a worthwhile endeavor. Good barongs are rarely found without breaks and wood loss from the carved areas of the sheath. Overall VG; a small chip to the reverse edge of the pommel. Blade 41.5 cm., overall in sheath 64 cm.
