# BQ2959 - A Fine 19th C. Plains Rifle with Native American Rawhide Cover and Decoration, Formerly in the Zane Gray Museum Collection - $ 2880.00

A fine mid-19th C. plains rifle, formally in the Zane Grey Museum Collection in Payson, AZ. It has a very heavy rifled octagonal barrel of about .40 cal. The non-functioning percussion lock appears to have been adapted from an earlier flintlock. The lock plate has a worn maker's mark, "Williton[?]" The gun also features set triggers and is half-stocked in hardwood with a native American period rawhide cover over most of the stock and barrel and added brass nails and feather decoration. The gun has a wonderful look with minor losses and surface rust, and is in excellent original used condition. 132 cm. overall.
