# BQ1320 - French-made American Eagle-head Sword, ca. 1800-1810 - $ 2295.00

A rarely encountered French-made eagle-head sword for the American market.* Approx. half of the blade and spine etched with military trophies and long-necked eagles. The mounts showing remnants of gilt and the scabbard body of browned iron with brass mounts; one hanging ring missing. Checquered ebony grip with beautiful gilded brass applique featuring stars and Federal eagle. A rare sword well worth restoration. Overall GC; nicely patinated, missing the knucklebow, small dent to brass chape. Blade mottled with scattered pits and an area of light pitting at tip. 99.2 cm. overall in scabbard, blade 82 cm. *See Mowbray, "The American Eagle Pommel Sword."
