# 1001-22 - An English Smallsword, ca. 1780-1800 - $ 3250.00

A fine late 18th century smallsword with hollow ground blade of triangular section, etched with floral sprays and arabesques. The hilt with rudimentary pas d'anes typical of smallswords of the late 18th century, heavily gilt and finely engraved in stylized floral motif. The bilobate shell guard also beautifully engraved with panoplies of arms and detailed borderwork. A fine and stylish weapon. Very good original condition, the blade retaining most of the original red felt buffer and showing much original polish. Blade 79.5 cm., overall 95.5 cm.
