# BHCS5 - Early Victorian British M1821 Heavy Cavalry Officer's Levee Sabre - $ 995.00

A rarely encountered British 1821 pattern heavy cavalry officer's sabre, ca. 1837-1845. Quillback pique-weight blade with early style etching with crowned VR cipher and wreath. Honeysuckle pattern hilt with original pommel peen, with good blue sharkskin grip bound with silver wire (100% tight and intact). In its steel scabbard with nickel throat and two loose rings. Overall GC; hilt with even, moderate pitting, blade with numerous tiny edge dings and a handful of deeper ones, also showing a couple of spots of light pitting near the tip and light to moderate pitting extending to about 13 cm from the guard. The sword appears to have been electrolytically cleaned, as there is no rust evident in spite of the pitting. Scabbard showing nice patina, with a number of small dings and a couple of larger dents. Scabbard probably associated. An uncommon sword.
